  TAE KWON DO FOR CHILDREN

It takes a village to raise a child.

--Meade

Children are not little adults--they are different.  Master Clark realized that because of these differences, something needed to be done if we were going to teach children successfully.  This realization resulted in our current children’s program.  Students learn all of Tae Kwon Do’s powerful self defense skills and work toward their Black Belt, as the adults do, but at an age appropriate pace.  The children’s curriculum has also been enriched to include topics such as anger management, how to give a polite greeting, self evaluation, goal setting and many other life skills which have a direct and immediate effect at home and in school.

What benefits can you expect?

How do we accomplish all this?

We use a system of positive rewards

*Colored belts denoting progress are earned at regular check points

*Good Report Cards are publicly recognized with a certificate and continuing good grades are recognized with a series of patches to wear on the uniform.

*We work hard to develop a team attitude between the parent, the school teachers and ourselves.  Open communication is encouraged at all times.  Parents and school teachers participate in regular evaluations as part of the belt ranking system.

*We are very intentional about teaching appropriate behavior.  The children learn when it’s OK to be noisy and when they need to be quiet and pay attention.  They learn that a self defense technique should be used only when necessary and never when playing around with siblings or neighbors.

*Our instructors are carefully selected and well trained.  Patient but firm, we expect good behavior and honest effort in class, at home and in school.
