Too old and physically mature to train with the children, but not yet ready to take class with the adults. That is the dilemma of our students aged 10 - 14.
In their own program, Juniors train more intensely than the children, without having to face partnering with a full-sized adult. Their belt ranks are similar to the children's so the pace continues to be age appropriate but the performance expectations begin to approach that of an adult.
The students learn all of Tae Kwon Do’s powerful self defense skills and work toward their Black Belt, as the adults do, but at an age appropriate pace.
What benefits can you expect?
- Ability to focus on tasks
- Increased sense of self-worth
- Decreased willingness to take foolish risks
- Increased self-confidence and self-discipline
- Improved performance in school
How do we accomplish all this?
We use a system of positive rewards
*Colored belts denoting progress are earned at regular check points
*We work hard to develop a team attitude between the parent, the school teachers and ourselves. Open communication is encouraged at all times. Parents and school teachers participate in regular evaluations as part of the belt ranking system.
*We are very intentional about teaching
appropriate behavior.
The children learn when it’s OK to be noisy and when they need to be
quiet
and pay attention. They learn that a self defense technique
should
be used only when necessary and never when playing around with siblings
or neighbors.
*Our instructors are carefully selected and well trained. Patient but firm, we expect good behavior and honest effort in class, at home and in school.
